It was quite difficult to choose the site I liked the best. I finally chose Allreaders. It seemed to have the search features I like w/o some of the distractions that would take me from my goal of the moment. I think I'll keep them all in mind though, because of the differences.

The PATRON, PATRON, PATRON!!!! That's what the library is all about. Whether it's teaching ESL, helping a child find books about aliens, or helping as the online librarian, it's all about the patron and meeting their needs. Each community has its own demographics and we need to be "in the know." I liked OH's site; there's so much to take in.

The Houston site just restates what we should all know. Each library has its own personality due to differences w/in that community. Our job is to reach the specific community we serve; there is no room for ....(you fill in the blank). Satisfied patrons bring along their friends on the next visit. I really liked the TO DO quiz on the page Staff role, Module 1, Customer Service.

MCPLD has some really great librarians; I remember some of them from my childhood. I've worked here for 10 years; I've seen what librarians with vision can do.

Honestly, I think patrons would find both ways workable. I guess personal preference would be the difference.

Maybe I misunderstood the directions, but I was able to choose whichever branch I wanted on both methods. Still, it's good to learn "another way to go around the barn."

Why FB? It's a personal encyclopedia about yourself and your ideas. Not only that, but it's on a community level, not just informational. Talk about free advertising!!! I love the Smithsonian site; what a place to visit.
Unfortunately, not everyone is ethical in their dealings with others and alot of careful consideration should be taken before opening a FB page.

I've spent some time on Pandora. I idea of creating a station with only the music I like is "intriguing." I can see how a person could spend a lot of time experimenting. Fun.
